The diocese of Derry is currently celebrating a Year of Prayer for Vocations. We believe in the power of prayer and in the power of the Holy Spirit to move hearts and minds to consider a priestly or religious vocation. The diocesan Vocations Council focuses on vocations to the priesthood for the diocese and is always happy to hear from men (aged 18+) who feel a call to serve the Church as a priest of the diocese of Derry.
During this Year of Prayer for Vocations the Council is encouraging the people of the diocese to pray regularly and fervently for a positive and fruitful response to the Lord’s invitation from those He is most surely calling to priestly ministry. The Vocations Council sends a weekly prayer to each parish for publication in newsletters, websites and social media, and conducts a Holy Hour on the second Friday of each month. Details of the location of the Holy Hour and of how to join in the prayers via webcam are published along with the monthly prayer. The next Holy Hour will take place in St Eugene’s Cathedral, Derry, at 8pm on Friday 12 August 2022, and will be broadcast on the Cathedral webcam at www.steugenescathedral.com
Anyone interested in exploring a vocation to priesthood for the diocese of Derry is invited to attend a “Come & See” weekend retreat in Drumalis Retreat Centre, Larne, from 26-28 August.
